Probably also because my main job is Field CTO, I still write code and try out new technologies. My interest in technology, space and our solar system has inspired me to write and publish a few Wear OS Watch faces over the last few months.
Today, I am excited to announce that the first three solar systems themed Wear OS watch faces are available in the Google Play Store:
Lunar Phases
Simple Day/Night Watch face
This Wear OS watch face switches views between day and night. During the day (between 8:00 and 19:00) a sun is displayed, while at night (19:00 and 8:00) a full moon is visible. The watch supports a 12/24h display and also shows the step target as a progress bar.
Lunar Phases
Enjoy our new Lunar Phase Watch Face for Wear OS smartwatches. This watch faces shows the current lunar/moon phase. You can choose two different views:
- The Lunar Orbit view, where you see the current position of the moon in relation to the earth
- and the Lunar Phases view, how the moon looks like from the earth
Solar System Watch Face
This watch face for Wear OS smartwatches shows the current planetary constellation. A must-have for all astronomy fans.
The watch face supports different views, such as
- All planets with and without orbit
- All planets and Pluto, with and without orbit
- Inner planets with and without orbit
The elliptical orbits of the planets have been converted into a circular orbit for better visibility on common smartwatches. In addition to the current calendar date, the Julian date is displayed, which is used by many astronomers.
